How long does the diagnostic take, and do I need to leave my vehicle all day?

We usually need your vehicle onsite for the full day. The diagnostic itself takes around two hours of technician time, but having the vehicle available all day allows us to complete any additional checks or technical research if required.
No, there is no obligation to proceed with repairs. You will receive a detailed diagnostic report and pricing for the recommended work, you are welcome to take the time you need to consider your options.
Usually, we can begin repairs straight after the diagnostic if you want to proceed, depending on capacity. If you need more time to decide, we’ll simply organise another booking that works for you.
A scan tool can only read fault codes. It cannot confirm what is actually causing the issue. Automatic transmissions require specialised testing such as hydraulic pressure checks, live data analysis and driveline evaluation to pinpoint the true fault. Our diagnostic process identifies the real cause, not just the code that was triggered.
Most transmission faults will get worse the longer you drive with them. Symptoms like slipping, shuddering, delayed shifting, harsh engagement or warning lights usually indicate a developing issue. Continuing to drive can increase internal wear, raise operating temperatures and, in many cases, lead to a sudden loss of drive or an unexpected breakdown.

There’s no reliable way to predict how quickly a fault will progress, which is why early diagnosis is the safest option. Identifying the issue early helps prevent avoidable damage, reduces repair costs and lowers the risk of being stranded.
