In an automatic transmission, the torque converter generates most of the heat under load. When the converter clutch disengages, fluid slip increases rapidly, especially when towing or climbing, and that slip creates heat.

This upgrade involves fitting a dedicated torque converter lock-up control module that works alongside the factory transmission ECU. The module intercepts the ECU’s lock-up command and allows controlled override of the torque converter clutch when conditions suit.

By integrating an additional control device into the lock-up circuit, the converter clutch can remain engaged under load instead of disengaging unnecessarily. This reduces converter slip, lowers heat generation, and gives predictable control over lock-up behaviour.
