Our Beginning

Ron Hill started repairing automatic transmissions in a small shed at the Gap in Brisbane in 1975. A few years later Ron built the premises at 44 Kayleigh Drive, Maroochydore, and has remained at this location for nearly 50 years.

Ron has a real passion for the industry and builds autos to this day even though he’s in his late 70’s.

Ron took Bill Olah on as a partner/owner after 10 years of working together in the business. Bill brought on board a boost of new enthusiasm and excellent organisational skills, alongside Sandra managing administration. Bill’s automotive training was achieved in Sydney as a motor mechanic before specialising in automatic transmissions.

Our Management Team

Bill had managed RHA with Sandra his wife for over 25 years. His son Tim started in the business in 2008 as an apprentice and became a qualified motor mechanic and transmission specialist in 2012. He has worked his way up the rank with his dedication to high standards to become the Workshop Manager in 2016. Tim is now a Managing Director and co-owner of Ron Hill Automatics.

Rachel, Bill and Sandra’s daughter joined RHA in 2019 to work a Service Advisor role. She has worked her way up to Sales/Service Manager, where Rach manages service department members, takes care of customers and coordinates work for the production team. Rach is well suited for customer service as she is very extroverted, and people orientated.

Bill and Tim are keen 4WD enthusiasts with frequent trips to Fraser Island, Cape York, and Double Island Point.

As experienced off-roaders, they understand the importance of upgrading drivetrain components for recreational usage and are strong advocators for proper transmission maintenance. This is how RHA Pro as a brand came into existence, for the higher performance interested 4WD owners.

That’s what’s been driving Ron Hill Automatics for the past 49+ years.  Today it’s more important to us than ever. Our outstanding reputation and lifelong customers can attest to our standing as the industry leader. Our team members are all keen motoring enthusiasts and continue to better their knowledge and skills for the latest advancements in automotive technology.

RHA are winners of the prestigious “Excellence in Business” Award for Enterprise of the Year for 2012 and were acknowledged for our commitment and passion to excellent customer service on the Sunshine Coast.

The finalists undergo a three-tier judging process, consisting of written submission, on-site business interview, and a mystery shopper experience. Each section is judged by two judges and all six scores are added together to determine the large and small business winner of each category.

The highest scoring large and small businesses across all categories is awarded Enterprise of the Year and Small Business of the Year.
